In My Library

Violets and Cats.

Hey guys! HAPPY READ A BOOK DAY!  So I finished African Violet and other stories which had shortlisted stories from the Caine Prize for African Writing. The Caine Prize for African Writing is a literary award prize is awarded to an African writer of a short story published in English whether in Africa or elsewhere. It was launched in 2000.  The book contains stories from the 13th annual Caine Prize Shortlist as well as those from their 10th workshop.  I’ve always had a weird feeling about shorter stories over actual novels, but this was a good one!  I can’t pick a favorite story. Not Love on Trial that sees a man charged with homosexuality set in Malawi, or La Salle de Départ that showed sinking tension over migration and family responsibility. There were also quite a lot of works by Kenyan authors, obviously great to see some brilliant stories from home.  Every story was a different adventure, and I enjoyed the rides! I will definitely be investing in more of the Caine Prize books! Also, my cat Snuffles decided to feature! 😂🤦🏾‍♀️ Read a book! Love from Snuffles and I!  K Ps- be sure to follow me on social media  Instagram:@champagne_kimberley Twitter: @ChampagneKimie And subscribe!
